Festival of Trees and Craft Market Brightens the Holidays for Local Nonprofits
Enjoy beautifully decorated trees, shop for gifts at the craft market, sip hot chocolate, enjoy holiday music and support local nonprofits
Forsyth County is in for a special treat this holiday season with the Festival of Trees and Craft Market at the Collection. Hosted by the North Atlanta Kids Directory, the purpose is to bring the community together with a beautiful holiday event while raising money and awareness for local nonprofits.
This free event will feature beautifully decorated trees created by businesses, clubs, and nonprofits. Attendees will find out what the nonprofits are working to accomplish and how they can support the local nonprofits through volunteerism, monetary donations and donations of needed items. Any nonprofit is also invited to use the Festival of Trees space (free of charge) during weekdays of the month-long event to do volunteer work like writing letters to our service people in the military, cards for children in the hospital, knitting caps or blankets for newborns, use the location for a donation drive and more.
One group that will have a tree at the Festival of Trees is Forsyth County 4-H. Their decorated tree will have a Summer Camp theme with decorations created by students in their program. The fundraising goal for Forsyth County 4-H is to create scholarships for local students to attend the Cloverleaf Summer Camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. Heather Haines, Forsyth County 4-H representative says, “We are so excited to participate in the Festival of Trees! We already have some fun ideas for the decorations that our 4-H kids will make, including okra ornaments. We hope to raise money with our tree to offset costs for families so their kids can attend the awesome camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The camp is a great way for 4th-6th grade youth to make new friends from around the state, participate in activities like canoeing, sailing, and high ropes courses, and maybe even learn a thing or two at a herpetology or lake ecology class.”
Be sure to check out their tree at the Festival of Trees and support their goal.
Attendees of the Festival of Trees will also be able to browse holiday gifts at the Craft Market inside the space, sip hot chocolate, listen to holiday music and performances, and even play the piano that will be set up by Pianos for Peace. North Atlanta Kids Directory is still accepting Tree Sponsors until November 1 or until all the spaces are taken. Tree sponsors include South Forsyth Key Club, Kiwanis Club of Cumming, Margaritaville Lanier Island, Kiwanis Club of Forsyth County, Crunch Fitness, Carrabba’s, and Dental Town. Participating nonprofits currently include Creative Enterprises, The Place of Forsyth, Jesse’s House, Bald Ridge Lodge, BMore Learning, Forsyth County 4-H, Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters, Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier, Meals by Grace, and Adventure Bags.
Families can plan a fun-filled and festive afternoon at The Collection during November and December. In addition to the Festival of Trees, kids will enjoy visiting Santa at his workshop and riding in the Holiday Train, which will be taking passengers around the Collection. Two doors down from the Festival of Trees space, shoppers will find Christmas Confetti filled with holiday gifts and decorations. Festival of Trees will be located between Lenscrafters and Rackroom Shoes at the Collection,410 Peachtree Pkwy, Cumming, GA 30041
